Wholesaler -

A NAWLA Wholesaler is any person, firm or corporation regularly engaged in wholesaling and/or offshore trading of forest products and related building materials who demonstrates a commonality of interest with the membership and:

  • Maintains a sales organization for wholesale purposes
  • Assumes credit risks due to the purchase and resale of forest products and related building materials
  • Performs such other functions related to the processing and distribution of products
  • The majority of gross profits are to the wholesale trade defined as: Retail Building Material Dealers; Retail Building Material Cooperatives; Industrial Accounts; Vertically Integrated Manufacturers; Mass Merchandisers; Millwork & Furniture Manufacturers; Local, State and Federal Government; Offshore Export; and other Wholesale companies.

The majority of gross profits may not involve manufacturers with which there is an exclusive sales agreement.

The majority of gross profits may not involve entities with whom the applicant has a direct or indirect financial interest, such as owners, partners, stockholders, affiliated firms, or subsidiaries.

An importer/exporter who takes title to the resold goods is included in this category.

Manufacturer -

A NAWLA Manufacturer does not meet the criteria of a Wholesaler or Wholesaler-Processor and can meet one or more of the following criteria in the majority of its gross profits:

  • A manufacturer (from the log) of lumber and/or other forest products.
  • A manufacturer of forest products and/or related building materials.

Service Affiliates -

A NAWLA Service Affiliate provides goods and/or services other than lumber and/or wood products to the members of the association. This includes companies who add value to wood products that are owned by someone else. An import/export agent who does not take title to the resold products, and basically puts the buyer and seller together is included in this category.

Divisional Member -

A NAWLA divisional member must be of the same class of membership as the parent company. All benefits of the primary membership are included. Dues are one-half of the parent company's dues.

Branch Member -

A NAWLA branch membership includes all association mailings to an additional location of the parent company. Branch members must be of the same class of membership as the parent company.
